It reminds me of a time when a local economic crisis threw the disciples of Jesus into a panic! You might remember this unique and problematic situation that Jesus confronted near the sea of Gallilee. The remarkable story is in John 6
John 6:1-7
41 After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. 2 Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased. 3 And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples. 4 Now the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near. 5 Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?" 6 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.

John’s gospel is so revealing. The motives of Jesus Christ are clearly presented. Jesus was TESTING His disciples to find out what was in their heart. From this we know that when times of ecomonic trouble comes Jesus is testing us. He desires to see what is in our hearts (2 Chron. 16:9). It seems that right now Jesus is testing you and me inour present time. In Jesus time He looked right at Philip, the eyes of the LORD looked right at Philip and tested him... “where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?”. How do you think Philip must have felt looking out on the THOUSANDS of people to feed? Have you ever been given the responsibility for feeding thousands of people? The story continues...
